Luke Kreamalmeyer Signs with Rochester
By: Bob Kellett | April 9th, 2008
Remember how Dizzy Antoniuk left the Portland Timbers for the Vancouver Whitecaps and then was traded to the Montreal Impact a couple of months later? Luke Kreamalmeyer is the new Dizzy. After being dealt to the Charleston Battery for Tim Karalexis in the winter, Kreamalmeyer has now been bought by the Rochester Rhinos. You’ll recall that Kreamalmeyer was one of the few bright spots during the otherwise dismal Chris Agnello 2006 campaign. He went from being first team all-league to doing next to nothing in 2007. And now he has been traded twice. And yet he still appears in the above banner on the official Timbers website. Has the guy lost his skills or is he a good player in search of the right system?
By the way, Rochester is looking increasingly desperate. They have also signed Ze Roberto who might be listed as being 29 years old but who plays like he is 45.

Interesting news about Luke. Considering the team’s lack of attacking wingers, I’d certainly take him out there on this Timbers team.

I kind of wonder how he would do playing off of Brown/Suzuki. I think there is real opportunity for our attacking wings this year. The guys up front are going to attract attention and both of them are unselfish with good passing skills. Luke was one of the few player who would attack defenders one v one. I’m not sure Gavin digs that style of player.

I think Luke is gone from Portland both because of his style of play and because of his personality. Very quiet. Very soft spoken. Very reserved. Very conservative.
I don’t think he could take Gavin’s verbal punches very well.

Luke scored a nice diving header last year vs Puerto Rico. I hope he does well, but I’m sorry he has to live in Rochester instead of Charleston. Chin up Luke!

We had a chant all ready for him last year and then he never gave us occasion to use it:
“Luuuuuke
Luke will tear you apart
Again”(to the tune of “Love Will Tear Us Apart” and nicked from a ManUre chant for Ryan Giggs…)
Good luck, unless playing Portland, Mr. K.
