Portland Timbers to Face Bayern Munich Reserves on July 2

By: Bob Kellett | April 23rd, 2009

The second international friendly of the season has been announced. The Portland Timbers will face the unknowns that are owned by Bayern Munich. You can bet that those unknowns are pretty darned good. Not as exciting as, say, a match against the first team, but at least this will help to get those dozens of Germans living in Mt. Angel out to the stadium.

My only complaint is the date. The Timbers are on the road in Minnesota two days after the exhibition. I guess the prospect of a huge Thirsty Thursday pre-4th of July weekend crowd is the reason.
