Thanks for the write-up Bob.. just found your blog, I'll definitely keep reading...

My girlfriend and I got season tix over in section 116 (sad to be away from the TA, but I'll drift to 107 more than a few times this year for sure...)

Like you, I felt that our back side felt exposed by PR's speedy front, but I kept expecting them to at least be a bit competent and connect at least once. Gratefully, PR didn't oblige and we pulled out the win.

I also felt that overall our team was really scrappy and didn't back down to the larger PR team, definitely an added bonus. Being scrappy will hold us in more games than naught.

Suzuki, I felt, didn't seem to show much promise to me right now.. but then again, this is the first time I've seen him play, and if it's his first time with our team I'll give him a few games to show how he can gel with us. But at least he didn't give up, and didn't back down. Kudos to him.

I'm excited for this season... great win to start it off!

So sad to see Timber Jim part ways, but he'll be in the stands and I'll do my part and buy him a few beers for the memories.

Great day out. The Timbers could have had a bit more edge, but Suzuki was by far the best ball handler on the pitch, and as Lucas said, no real threats on goal from the Puerto Ricans. Considering how badly he dealt with the goal from Brown, I'm not too thrilled about the scoreline, but three points is three points, and 1-0 every time will do just fine. Nice to meet you and all the Army folks too.

- Lucas - No disrespect about the Capos. They did their best. With the You Are My Sunshine at the 82nd min. Instead of just letting the song evolve it got all mixed up and our capo (at 107) kept giving it the "kill it" sign and many stopped singing.

Now if we could get PGE Park to NOT play that horrible music pregame. The Timbers Army warming up provides plenty of noise.

I had perfect seats last night. Yeah Canadien Erin is right:

What happened was, there was like little time left on the clock, and the Islanders had a throw in. But the ball took forever to get back to the thrower. so another ball was thrown in. and so a Timber was there with a ball at his feelt, confused. So the Islander bench guy ran onto pitch to get that ball out of the way. Maybe good intentions, but he should know to never go onto the pitch and it wasn't his call to decide which ball to use...
