Portland Timbers sign Solomon Islander Benjamin Totori

By: Bob Kellett | April 17th, 2008

Here is a picture of the newest Portland Timbers forward’s homeland. We now have a player from the freakin’ Solomon Islands on our roster. That is enough to get me all geeked out. By the way, as part of his contract I hope Benjamin Totori negotiated that next year’s training camp be held in his home country and that all people writing blogs about the Portland Timbers be required to attend.

A 22-year-old, 5′5″ scoring machine with blazing, faster-than-Bryan Jordan-speed from an obscure nation. Isn’t this the most intriguing signing in club history? I can’t wait to see him play.

Local Portland fans in-the-know are betting a certain O-Z Mike already has a complete Solomon Islands subbeteo set.
I love the oddball signings! This is as oddball as it gets. Second is signing a 400 year old, super over-priced, mostly ineffective Paul Conway in ‘05.

fantastic for Solomon Island soka. Just knew about Totori’s latest move to US soka today in the local radio station website: http://www.sibconline.com.sb We never about US soka, let alone Portland Timbers. This is great news to us. And this is the talk of the town now. He’s one of our best and hope he makes an instant impact once he joins up with his new club. We’ll be keeping intouch with Totori and his new club through the internet. By the way, where in US is the club located? Wish Portland Timbers and Totori a successful season ahead.

James - Portland is located in the state of Oregon on the west coast of the United States. We are north of California and south of Washington.

We are all looking forward to welcoming Totori to our city.
