Ray Burse Recalled by Dallas; Benjamin Totori out with Injury
By: Bob Kellett | June 1st, 2008
If you happen to be a backup keeper or a forward looking for a run in the greater Rochester area, you might want to give the Portland Timbers a call ASAP. Timbers keeper Ray Burse has been recalled by FC Dallas because the Hoops’ number one keeper Dario Salas is slightly banged up. Burse, who has six shutouts from ten games this season in Portland, had the fun experience of making an overnight bus ride with the Timbers to Rochester only to be put on a plane to Denver. The recall is being billed as being temporary and Burse is expected to rejoin the Timbers this week. Let’s hope so. With the crazy busy schedule the Timbers have over the next two weeks the thought of not having our number one keeper around makes my stomach feel worse than the last time I ate at Denny’s.
At least Jordan James will get to make his debut against the team with the most feeble offense in the league. Rochester has scored just two goals in seven games and has struggled to even get many shots on goal.
The other big news heading into Sunday’s game against Rochester is that Benjamin Totori will not play. The Solomon Islander injured his knee in the 90th minute against Montreal and is being held out of action until he can get it examined in Portland. It doesn’t sound too serious, but we’ll know more later this week.
This tease from Andy Mac:
Tonight’s lineup will be different than any other put forth by Gavin Wilkinson this season, but out of respect for the coaching staff, I’ll leave the changes to your imagination for now.
My imagination sees:
James
S. Thompson Knowles J. Thompson Griffin
Guante Gregor Dombrowski Higgins
Suzuki Brown
Some match previews
Rhinos seek first win in 2008 (Democrat and Chronicle) Rhinos winless, but coach predicts “very, very tight” game with Timbers (Portland Tribune) Timbers Invade Rochester this Afternoon (Portland Timbers)
I’ll check in with my thoughts after the game.

Too early to celebrate. We’ve seen very little of James in goal. There also might not be a backup on hand and the thought of Gregor standing on Poltl’s shoulders in goal is not all that reassuring.
