The LA Galaxy are paying our guy(s)
By: Bob Kellett | April 14th, 2008
Trialist defender Scott Bolkan is not officially listed on the Timbers roster yet nor is he listed on the LA Galaxy roster, but he is earning some money as a professional soccer player. Bolkan is being paid $12,500 a year by the Galaxy according to the updated MLS salary figures. Congratulations, Scott. You are officially the lowest paid Biology major from Stanford ever.
UPDATE: Bolkan is now a Portland Timber. So is Vardan Adzemian (his name is misspelled in the first paragraph of the press release. That is respect!)
A couple of additional salaries to scoff at from the list. Bryan Jordan will be paid $17,700 for his efforts in 2008. Josh Wicks is the $38,000 backup keeper. My guess is that both guys could have made more if they stayed in Portland. At least they are on a winning team. At least they are playing. At least it isn’t raining in LA today.

If Bolkan makes the team does he have to be loaned from LA?

Bolkan and Adzemian are now officially on loan from LA.
Not sure how I feel about having loans from such a shit team, but oh well.

If the Galaxy want to pay for our bench players, so be it. It is the least they can do considering all the players we’ve sent their way.

I’m a bit uneasy about loans too, but at least they are going to be backups and their salaries(peanuts) are being paid by another team.
Bob-any word on getting that Cuban keeper up here from LA too?

I haven’t heard anything about the Cuban keeper other than that he has been training with LA. The legal situation around him and his compadres will take time to resolve so it is possible he may not play anywhere this year. One of the defectors has been reportedly training with Puerto Rico. It will be interesting to see if they end up signing him and what kind of arrangement that would take. Let’s hope Burse/James are the man.
