Lents Neighboorhood Association and Portland Beavers Principles Meeting
By: Bob Kellett | June 2nd, 2008
It looks like things are moving forward on the Lents baseball stadium front. The Lents Neighborhood Association is establishing a subcommittee to meet with the principles of the Portland Beavers (presumably Merritt Paulson) to talk about a plan to build a stadium in their SE Portland neighborhood. From the I Love Lents message board:
There were a number of individuals that expressed interest in participating in a LNA subcommittee that will meet with the principles of the Portland Beavers to discuss opportunities as well as concerns about this project.I ask everyone interested to see me after the meeting and I did not have anyone contact me. I am making this one last offer before I set up the first meeting June 10th or 12th. If you are interested please contact me directly through my email: deweyakers@… or by phone if you have interest. Contacts for the meetings will be by email so please provide your name, email address, and phone number.
We will establish meeting dates and frequency at the first meeting. I am very excited about the opportunity and want to make sure we address all parties concerns up front so we can move this discussion forward.
If you have questions please call or better send me and email.

LNA President

If anyone joins this committee, I will give you a fancy title like “Official Timbers Offside MLS Expansion Correspondent” if you report back and tell us all what is discussed.

I think a MLB expandable stadium should be started at the Blanchard Property North of the Rose Quarter. You will not get the afternoon game crowds unless you are near Downtown PDX. This site in Lents is perfect for a football/concert stadium.
Plenty of room for tailgate parties.http://www.oregonstadiumcampaign.com is where our local conversation has been going for years about this subject.
