Game 1 – Portland Timbers v. Rochester Rhinos
By: mao | April 17th, 2010The Portland Timbers open their 2010 campaign today when long-time opponents Rochester Rhinos come to PGE Park for a 7pm kick off. Rochester have already played once this season, drawing 1-1 with Miami down in Ft. Lauderdale. Now the Rhinos travel across the country and take on a Timbers side who are enhanced, improved and itching for the season to start. The match will feature the debut of several new players including Ian Joy, OJ Obatola and Quavas Kirk. It’s likely we’ll see stalwart Scot Thompson before the game is done and much-loved players from Brian Farber to Stephen Keel to Steve Cronin will have the Timbers Army rolling. The most intense home field advantage at this level, and arguably at any level of American soccer, will be on full display as the Timbers defend their 2009 Commissioners Cup.

As can be expected throughout this season, check back after the game for a full report on the action.
