Love it! Great to see South American and Central American teams on our turf. Its time for a Monroe Doctrine for AMERICAN football.

Nice. We had River Plate last year. I would have preferred Boca.

If you follow Argentine football you’d know that few if any of the players you mentioned will play in Boca’s US matches. They are either injured (Riquelme, Battaglia), preparing for the World Cup (Palermo) or sold (Gaitan). The team will consist of mostly of reserve players.

I assumed that it would not be a full strength side coming to the US. Of course the full, regular side is only in fifteenth place in the Primera División so perhaps it is not the strongest side in the world right now anyway. We’re just thrilled to have such a big, historic club coming to Portland. Last year we had Bayern Munich’s reserve team play here and a young lad named Thomas Müller played against the Timbers. Of course he will be featuring in the Champions League final next week, so you never know who of the younger, reserve players will turn out to be a star.
