A Must-Win Game for Both Sides
By: Bob Kellett | September 2nd, 2008
Miami’s boss on his team upcoming road matches against the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders:
”There is no other way of looking at it — we have to win both,” Zinho said. “We are doing the necessary things to get the players ready. Now it is up to the players to respond.”
Not much to see
You can experience again the glory that was the Timbers’ 0-0 draw in Miami back on May 18 with these highlights.
The Jordan Factor
One thing to keep in mind is that Bryan Jordan did not play for the Timbers in the two previous games against Miami this year. There’s no denying that the Timbers are a different team when Jordan plays. They have been shut out in two of the nine games in which he has appeared. In the other 14 games they have been shut out eight times, including twice against Miami.
Can’t wait for puberty to lower my voice
I had the pleasure of participating in a podcast with a Wrexham FC supporter on Monday. The subject was his club’s newest signing, Tom Taylor. Since Taylor barely played at all during his year and a half in Portland and I had nothing coherent to say about him, the subject quickly changed to the oddities of the USL and American soccer. You can listen to it by going here and clicking on Taylor’s smiling mug.
Your press conference liveblog schedule
I am planning on attending Wednesday’s MLS expansion press conference at the stadium at 9am. I’ll lug my laptop along and if the wireless gods cooperate I will liveblog it for your reading pleasure. If that ain’t possible, I’ll get a summary up as quickly as I can.

The Cheerful Bullpen should have Wi-Fi and they open at 9am. I don’t know if the signal will reach the park, but you can atleast go there afterwards and use the wifi…

Just listened to the Wrexham podcast. I had forgotten about Taylor’s goal for us vs Milan Primavera last year. Why do I get the feeling Tom Taylor is going to score 15 goals for Wrexham this season?
Also good job representing US soccer, Bob. Winning over British fans one 5th division podcast at a time!
