Let’s set the bar really, really low
By: Bob Kellett | February 23rd, 2009Last year around this time I fired up this little ol’ blog and made a huge mistake. The mistake was telling you that I wasn’t going to spend much time working on it. It turns out I did spend some time. A lot of time. Time trying to dig up information of friendlies, time trying to uncover the identity of new players, time going to the nether regions of the metropolitan area to watch meaningless scrimmages, time thinking, dreaming, and eventually writing posts. It was fun. The season sucked but this blog was fun. It was fun getting emails from people in Japan and the Solomon Islands and Gresham. It was fun “scooping” the daily. It was fun ranting about nonsense. You get the point.
The challenge that lies ahead, dear reader, is balancing this fun with reality. The reality is that my current life situation does not allow me to spend hours each day doing this things that made this blog at least tolerable last year. Fun I want. Time I don’t have.
As a compromise I have decided to start this back up under a couple of conditions. The first is that it is not going to be a huge part of my existence. The second is that you understand from the get-go that this could be uglier than the Agnello year. Blog posts may be as short as Tommy Poltl. The creative level might be on par with Gavin Wilkinson’s offense. My effort might resemble Andrew Gregor. The blog posting frequency might resemble a USL-1 schedule, a few back-to-backs followed by weeks of nothing. Capice?
I’ve also been informed that there might be another contributor to this blog, which would be a fabulous thing because, no joke, my head has been so far under sand this winter that I can’t name any of the goalkeepers listed on the current roster.

hey ya, hey ya, Bob is back!
Although it’s a trick answer, isn’t it? I don’t see *any* goalkeepers on that roster.

Welcome back, Bob! I was wondering if we’d be seeing the work of your busy little blogging fingers round these parts again. Glad the answer is yes, even if on a somewhat limited basis!

Bob, any writing and soccer wisdom from you is much better than none at all. Glad to see you back.
