Sights and Sounds from a Hollywood Story

By: Bob Kellett | June 11th, 2008

Chris Brown scores on a free kick to put the Timbers ahead 1-0 against Hollywood United.

Arsene Oka heads home a cross from Neil Dombrowski to score his first goal in a Timbers uniform and to put Portland ahead 2-1.

Takayuki Suzuki is stoned on a penalty kick by Hollywood United keeper Javier Barragan and Arsene Oka misses off the rebound.

    Taka…wtf?

Bob you mentioned in your previous post that his missed PK was the turning point in the game. I think it might be the turning point in the season, where the Timbers turn the corner from being worrying underachievers to a team that is utter, laughable shit. Demoralizing is not a strong enough word.

    I am gutted.

I’m just not ready to panic yet. If we don’t win tomorrow, then panic. The management decided to let the reserves win or lose this one on their own in order to save the first team for Thursday. All the substitutions, like the Brown/Suzuki switch, were clearly planned from the beginning so that no first teamers are tired for tomorrow. We will see if the strategy works.
