While Taka as the best athlete in PDX is a bit of a joke, I think it’s great that Timber fans made the effort to go on the website and vote for him. Way to go TA.

Bob, don’t forget about Nick DeSantis at the Impact. He was a long time player who took over last year. Then stepped down 7 games into this season and is now Technical Director. Which is a fancy way of saying he runs practices. I think this would be a perfect position for Gavin. Technical Director would fit his skill set and it would still leave him time to run East Side United.

So two of the three player/managers in this league are now gone.

I love me some Larry O too. Though still a bit rough around the edges being in only his 2nd pro season, he could be MLS ready if the Timbers make the jump in 2010/11. The talent is there, now it just needs to be refined.

In other head-scratching local sports figure news: Gavin Wilkinson is the reigning best manager of the league. No, really, it’s true. Taka and Gavin = sigh.
