Timbers Grab Bag 04.29.09

I was asleep when the Carolina RailHawks acuired Luke Kreamalmeyer so it came as a surprise when I saw his name on their roster. This is the third USL-1 team the midfielder has played for since leaving Portland. He is the new Dan Antoniuk (who played for Carolina last year before heading to Charleston this season — Cleveland and Austin are inevitably in his future).

No Respect
Nary a Portland player’s name to be found on the meaningless team of the week.

In case you weren’t up before the sun
Here’s some video of the lads doing the morning show.

Your virtual pub trivia question of the week
The Portland Timbers have never beaten the Carolina RailHawks at home (They are 0-0-2). If you don’t count the new kids, Cleveland and Austin, what is the only other team in A-League/USL-1 history that the Timbers have never beaten at PGE Park? The answer is below.

I’m a Lumberjax
From the promotions department:

As a special perk of being a Portland Timbers Full Season Ticket Holder, and as part of a partnership with the Portland LumberJax, we are offering you complimentary tickets to their West Division Semifinal game against the San Jose Stealth on Friday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rose Garden.

The complimentary tickets are limited to the first 50 people (tickets in pairs) that request seats. To request seats, please email Joe Cote at ticketsales@pgepark.com. Seats will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information about the game, please visit www.portlandjax.com.

Didn’t this happen back in 2004 too?
Top of the table and then eliminated .

Kasey Keller…clap, clap, clap

SI.com: Do you see yourself staying here long enough to experience the Pacific Northwest rivalry with expansion teams in Vancouver and Portland in 2011?

Keller: That’s why I’ve been hinting at maybe playing that one more year after my contract expires, to be a part of that. And to get as much stick as I’ll get in Portland, having played in college and one year professionally down there. It’ll be a lot of fun. We’ll see how the body feels, we’ll see how I’m playing. I could see myself squeezing another year out.

Trivia Answer
Charlotte Eagles. The Timbers tied the Eagles in their one and only encounter in Portland. Those pesky North Carolina teams.
