You never went to an Orlando Lions game back when they were in the A-League? I used to when I lived in Central Florida. If I still lived there I’d probably go to Kraze games and I’d probably die from a ligtening strike.

I’m happy that people in Seattle have woken up to the fact they have a professional soccer team. That is good. It is a shame they ignored their team the past 15 years. I found it ironic that I knew more about the dude’s club than he did and that I have been to more Seattle games than he has. That is all.

And as for welcoming new fans, I think Portland and the Timbers Army’s record speaks for itself. The North End used to be ten people with plastic buckets. If we didn’t welcome new fans we wouldn’t be around today.

Haha, enjoy the snarky comments while you can. Once you get your new stadium and your MLS club, you can only HOPE you have enough new “customer fans” to fill said stadium and a club that is successful enough to get those new fans to actually make the road trip to Seattle when the time comes.

I’m a new Sounders fan myself. I just moved here from Orlando about a year ago and never had a local team to get behind before… so cut ‘em some slack!

It’s going to be a fun MLS rivalry though.

You shouldn’t throw anything on the field ever. It wasn’t ok when Sounders fans did it, it’s not ok for Portlands fans to do it. Sorry Ian, but I have to disagree with you, I know it hurts but I hope we can still be friends.

“Who shot Sanna Nyassi?” This happened right in front of me. He went down ’cause his hand got ?kicked? on the preceding play. He was rolling around holding his hand close to his chest indeed looking as if he had been shot in the chest. Since when can’t a soccer player continue to play ’cause his HAND hurts?!? Their time wasting tactics were obscene.

Dustin – generally I’d agree with you that throwing stuff onto the pitch is lame. But not the bottle. Oh no. Not that bottle. Not only was Nyassi writhing on the ground for no reason at all, while the rest of his cowardly clubmates did the same timewasting BS (extra points for the never-in throw-in, Flounders) – but that throw was epic. Bob – someone must have video of it. That’s the stuff Youtube was invented for.

That was an AWESOME game, can’t wait to see this Rivalry grow come 2011.

Sounders fans threw smoke bombs on the field, that’s terrible and they shouldn’t do that. Same thing with the Timbers fan who threw the bottle. Quit that crap people, don’t throw anything onto the field, it’s not ok.
