Timbers Officially Eliminated from Playoffs
By: Bob Kellett | September 13th, 2008
Seven of the 11 USL First Division teams will make the playoffs this season. The Portland Timbers will not be one of them. The Minnesota Thunder defeated the Charleston Battery 4-0 on Saturday night, officially eliminating the Timbers from the playoffs. This is the third time in the modern era, and the second time in three years, that Portland has not made the postseason.
Can’t wait til they win the league next year….

RIP Timbers playoff hopes. It would have been a sad statement for the USL if the team I’ve watched this season went to the playoffs, as much as I would have loved to see it. Next year, as you say. Thanks again for the extra tix.

Well, you guys should at least be proud of your great fan support. Another record season for attendance, am I right? You know it’ll eventually pay off. MLS-style.
